[Despite the irritation in his last entry, the local vigilante has taken it upon himself to try out the damn rifle anyway. It might not work as he wants it to, but he'll take potshots over losing his edge.]
[Which is why he's standing at the edge of the green, taking careful aim, and firing into one of the topiary shrubs. He's aiming for the central trunk, to avoid grazing the thing and hitting someone walking along behind it.]
[... between the sharp cracks of rifle fire, his head bobs in a rhythm. Almost like...]
[Okay, yes. Garrus has his music on.]
[And if you watch him long enough, he might even attempt some semblance of dancing.]

[action]
Nice moves, Vakarian.
[action]
It'd probably be better if these were actual targets.
[action]
[Biting the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing, Shepard just chillaxes until he parses the implications and the things he's been doing with those turian hips.]
[action]
[No, he still hasn't figured it out. He probably won't until he turns the music back on again.]
[action]
A strangled noise that isn't quite a laugh, but isn't quite a commiserating agreement regarding his skill with a rifle, comes from the place Shepard reclines in. But if Garrus turns around to check, all he'll see is her laid out, eyes shut, and smiling.]
Nahhh. You don't have to impress me.
[action]
[He just sort of stares at her, blinking.]
... You all right, there?
[action]
When he finds Garrus he doesn't even blink. There's a lot of weird looking people here after all. However, he is staring at Garrus' gun.]
Cool rifle.
[action]
Thanks. Been through a lot with me.
[action]
[Only this looks a lot more advance than his carbine.]
[action]
[He stops, lowering the weapon, and turning to look at Kid fully.]
You're a marksman?
[action]
I guess. I fought with it anyway.
[He's not sure if that makes him a marksman though.]
[action]
[action]
[Though by the way he looks away it's clear he wished he hadn't.]
I had to do a light of fighting putting my world back together.
[action]
[action]
The Calamity destroyed it. I survived and was helping to put it back together.
[action]
Like what they're telling us happened here?
[action]
I guess so, but it was a weapon. The Mancers made it and...it didn't end well.
But when everything was destroyed I ended up at the Bastion, not here.
[If the Calamity caused this much destruction, then why didn't he come here in the first place?]
[action]
[He's trying to piece this together, see if it makes any sense.]
[action]
No, the Bastion is in Caelondia, my home. It's where we were supposed to go if there was an emergency, except only me and Rucks made it. We were gonna fix everything, even found some more people, but then I got sent here before we finished.
[action]
[action]
[action]
[action]
I don't mean to be rude but...not really.
[action]
[action]
[And then lose it again.]
[action]
[action]
[A question no one has yet to answer for him.]
[action]
[action]
[This is all far more complicated than what he's used to.]
[action]
[action]
[Kid isn't smart, or at least doesn't think of himself as smart. He can work, he can scout, and he can fight but he's no good at plans or anything like that.]
[action]
[Shepard probably could too. But running to her for every little problem isn't an option.]
[action]
[action]
[action]
[Crap, he's starting to miss them again. Maybe he should change subject.]
What kind of gun is that.
[Subtle.]
[action]
[He hefts the rifle, looking down at it.]
M-97 Viper. A sniper rifle. Good for long-range shooting.
[action]
[If it has a fancy name like his Kid doesn't now it.]
It's not as fancy looking though.
[action]
[He looks down at his own.]
Wouldn't call it "fancy".
[action]
Looks fancy to me.
[Even so he can see several similarities between his and this one.]
[action]
Now the Widow... there's a rifle.
[action]
Well, it's like you said right? As long as it works?
[He looks back towards the rifle.]
It looks like a good gun to me.
[action]
Yeah. As long as it works.
[action]
[action]
[action]
[action]
But it suddenly fires nonlethal rounds. Exclusively.
[action]
Those weren't like that before.
[action]
[He takes a step nearer, peering down at the projectiles.]
[action]
[He loads the bullets back into his pistol and holsters it in his belt. It looks like he won't be killing anyone with these, which is fine with him seeing how he prefers not to kill anyone at all.]
[action]
But there's plenty of other weapons to go around.
[action]
[Kid hasn't exactly checked his other weapons so he still doesn't know how blunt his machete is.]
[action]
[action]
What?
[He has no idea what Garrus is talking about but it sounds horrible.]
[action]
This place isn't safe.
[action]
I'm used to places that are dangerous.
[action]
[action]
You can use this if you need to protect yourself.
[action]
I appreciate it, but if things get that desperate... I'm sort of already equipped with my own melee weapons.
[Like claws.]
[action]
Alright.
[So...what does he do now?]
Um, I'll leave you be now then.
[action]
[He pauses, before adding:]
If you need any backup, go ahead and yell.
[action]
[He starts to leave when he realizes something and turns back around.]
What's your name?
[action]
I'll answer to both, if it gets too complicated to remember.
[action]
Everyone calls me Kid.
[action]
... Look after yourself.
[action]
[And he turns to leave again.]
